Commentaires

In the summer of 1959, Picasso took up again a subject that had fascinated him all his life - his first painting with this theme can be dated 1889/90 -: bullfighting. That year he published "Tauromaquia" and created various ceramics on this theme. It was therefore obvious that he also dealt with it in linocut. - One of the approx. 20 copies that were intended for artists and publishers outside the numbered edition.

Erläuterungen

Im Sommer 1959 nahm Picasso ein Sujet wieder auf, das ihn zeitlebens - sein erstes Gemälde mit diesem Thema lässt sich 1889/90 datieren - faszinierte: den Stierkampf. In diesem Jahr publizierte er die "Tauromaquia" und schuf verschiedene Keramiken zu diesem Thema. Es war daher naheliegend, dass er sich auch im Linolschnitt damit beschäftigte. - Eines der ca. 20 Exemplare, die ausserhalb der nummerierten Auflage für Künstler und Verleger bestimmt waren
