2. Franz Marc. Fabeltier. Print from a black woodblock, coloured with stencil in 5 colours. Hoberg/Janssen 24. Print outside the edition for the almanac, confirmed on the reverse by Maria Marc "Nachlass Franz Marc, bestätigt Maria Marc" and inscribed "Fabeltier 129 Mark", probably bound into the copy at a later date with two folds

Condition

Both prints fresh in colour and in very fine condition. The print by Franz Marc has a small greyish water stain in the upper margin. The original blue leather binding with traces of use at the edges, the spine faded. On the flyleaf with dedication from Lene Uhlemeyer to her sister Katinka

Comments

"The Blue Rider" is probably the most important programmatic work of German Expressionism. Texts by Kandinsky, Macke, Marc, Burliuk and Schönberg, among others. With colour reproductions after Kandinsky and Marc, with vignettes by Arp and Marc and 3 music supplements by Schönberg, Berg and von Webern. Numerous other illustrations by Burliuk, Campendonk, Cezanne, Delaunay, Gauguin, Heckel, Kirchner, Klee, Kubin, Matisse, Nolde, Picasso, Rousseau, among others, enriched by illustrations of folk art and works of foreign cultures.

Zustand

Die beiden Graphiken farbfrisch und in sehr schöner Erhaltung. Das Blatt von Franz Marc hat im oberen Einfassungsrand einen kleinen gräulichen Wasserfleck. Der originale blaue Ledereinband an den Rändern mit Gebrauchsspuren, der Rücken verblasst. Auf dem Vorsatzblatt mit Dedikation von Lene Uhlemeyer an ihre Schwester Katinka
