Since 1964, graphic works have accompanied Baselitz's paintings and drawings. He began with etchings, followed by monochrome or polychrome woodcuts in 1966 and large-format linocuts since 1977. The 'Sitzende Mann' is certainly one of the most important works of this period. Only one proof each exists of the I. to III. state, these sheets were printed by the artist on 31 January 1977 and numbered 1-3. The edition of 6 copies, which he created from 29 April to 1 May and numbered 4-9, dates from 1979

Erläuterungen

Seit 1964 begleiten druckgrafische Arbeiten Baselitz’ malerisches und zeichnerisches Werk. Er begann mit Radierungen, 1966 kamen ein- oder mehrfarbige Holzschnitte hinzu und seit 1977 fertigt er grossformatige Linolschnitte an. Der "Sitzende Mann" zählt sicherlich zu den bedeutendsten Arbeiten dieser Zeitspanne. Vom I. bis zum III. Zustand existiert nur je ein Probedruck, diese Blätter hat der Künstler am 31. Januar 1977 gedruckt und von 1-3 nummeriert. Die Auflage von 6 Exemplaren, die er vom 29. April bis 1. Mai geschaffen und von 4-9 nummeriert hat, stammt von 1979
