«Online Only» is a contemporary kind of auction run exclusively on the Internet. The works are described as carefully as in the printed catalogues. You can bid comfortably from home.
How does «Online Only» work?
You can participate in the «Online Only» auction by registering and logging on our homepage under myKORNFELD, then by application for auction access. After that by bidding on a lot by means of a bid or a maximum bid.
How long does the «Online Only» auction last?
The auction goes on for approximately 11 days. During this time you can bid on the lots offered. You can find the exact dates here. The individual lots will be knocked down consecutively at 30 second intervals. If a bid is increased in the last 3 minutes before the end of the bidding period, the bidding period will be extended by another 3 minutes.
When can I start bidding?
After you have successfully registered and received confirmation that you have been given access to the Online Only auction, you can bid from the beginning of the auction. You can view the lots in the online catalogue beforehand and add individual lots to your list of personal favorites after access to Online Only auction. Please allow enough time for the complete registration process.
I already activated my account last year, can I bid directly again?
If you have already participated in our last Online Only auction, you only need to confirm your approval in your overview. It is not necessary to enter your information again. All data as well as the bidding limit will be taken over from the previous year. You can enter any changes when you activate your account or under your personal data.
How do I add items to my personal-favourites list?
First log in with your myKORNFELD account. A heart symbol will then appear next to the lot numbers in all Kornfeld catalogues. By clicking on it, the corresponding lot is saved in your favourites list. The list can be called up via your personal overview.
What is the Personal Overview (myKORNFELD Profile)?
In your Personal Overview you will find a list of all your online activities, such as your Favourites list and Bids list.
Can I view and examine the artworks on offer?
Yes, you can examine the artworks at our auction exhibition. All lots are also available in the online catalogue in high-resolution images. The catalogue descriptions have been written to provide as much detailed and accurate information as possible, to the best of our knowledge and understanding. Please note that condition reports will not be issued for lots in the Online Only Auction.
How do I register with myKORNFELD?
myKORNFELD is your online profile. When registering you can already choose what you want to use your profile for. To place bids at the hall auctions or to be activated for the "Online Only" auction, please fill in all required fields. For the newsletter, you only need to enter your e-mail address and name and create a password. In any case, you will immediately receive a link by e-mail, which you confirm.
How do I log in to myKORNFELD?
After successful registration, you can log in to myKORNFELD using your e-mail address and password.
How can I get acccess to the Online Only auction?
You have the possibility to request the activation for the "Online Only" auction directly during the Registration by checking the corresponding box. Even after successful registration and login, you can apply for activation in your overview. Generally, we will activate your account within 48 hours. After we have activated you for "Online Only", you will be notified by us. Please apply for activation for the "Online Only" auction as early as possible so that you can participate.
How long does it take to get access to the auction?
Access is usually activated within 48 hours.
What is the personal bid limit?
Please note that a bid limit just applies for the Online Only Auction. It does not appy for the other classic Live Auctions. After we have given you access to Online Only, you will receive an e-mail notification with your personal bid limit. This applies only to all bids within a Online Only auction. It is the maximum sum of all bid amounts you have entered, including the maximum bids. The standard personal bid limit can be increased upon request.
How can I increase my personal bid limit?
As soon as you are registered with myKORNFELD and apply for access to Online Only, you can apply for an increase of your personal bid limit. You can also apply for an increase of your personal bid limit at any time later at myKORNFELD. The increase may result in a request for the submission of additional documents (such as a bank reference or bank statement). Please apply for the personal bid limit to be increased as early as possible so that you can be ready in time for the auction.
How can I bid on a lot?
After obtaining access to the auction, you can bid on a lot by making a bid and/or a maximum bid. The starting price is the lowest-possible bid amount.
What is a bid?
A bid is the amount you can offer for a lot. This is either the starting price or a step above the current bid.
What are the bid increments?
The bid increments are fixed increases in your bids. Here you will find the complete list of bid increments You cannot enter individual amounts.
What is a maximum bid?
The maximum bid is an order placed by you and carried out for you by a “bidding robot.” This allows you to buy the lot at the best-possible price for you. You select the maximum bid from the specified list of bid increments, within your personal bidding limit You cannot enter individual amounts.
Can I place a bid below the starting price?
No, the starting price is the lowest-possible bid. You can only use the given bid increments
Can I bid against myself?
No, you cannot bid against yourself. The bidding robot is programmed at maximum bids so that you can buy the lot at the best-possible price for you.
How do I know that my bid has been accepted?
After you have placed your bid, you can see immediately if you are the new highest bidder or if you have already been outbid by another client.
How do I stay informed?
If you are logged in on myKORNFELD, you can see an overview of the current status of your bids. You will also receive notifications by e-mail if you have been outbid.
Why am I having difficulty placing bids/maximum bids?
Either: - You are not yet registered and/or - You are not logged in on myKORNFELD and/or - You are have not yet been given access to the auction and/or - You have already exhausted your personal bid limit
Can I cancel a bid?
No, final bids cannot be canceled. In order to avoid erroneous bids, the system will notify you of the binding nature of the bidding by means of a window before the final bid.
How do I know during the auction that I have been outbid?
After you have placed your bid, you will immediately see if there is a higher bid (maximum bid) from another bidder. You can then increase your bid if you wish. If you are later outbid by another bidder, you will receive an e-mail notification and may be able to increase your bid.
Can I bid on multiple lots?
Yes, you can place your bids and/or maximum bids on all lots within your personal bid limit.
How can I track my bids?
If you are logged in on myKORNFELD, you will see directly in the online catalogue on which lots you are the highest bidder. Under myKORNFELD you will also find a compilation of your bids.
How can I simultaneously track and bid on my bids?
If you are logged in on myKORNFELD, you will see directly in the online catalogue on which lots you are the highest bidder. Under myKORNFELD you will also find a compilation of your bids. Open a second window in your browser. With one of them you can follow the lots, with the other you can bid on individual lots if necessary.
What happens if I am outbid in the last 3 minutes?
If you are outbid in the last 3 minutes before the lot ends, the system will extend the bidding period for this lot by 3 minutes from this bid. At best, you have the opportunity to bid again.
How do I know that I have placed the successful bid?
After the auction has ended, the highest bidder will receive an e-mail confirming the successful bid.
What are the costs?
The purchase price is determined by the hammer price plus premium (buyer's premium). Value-added tax (currently 8.1%) is levied on the buyer's premium. For objects marked with an asterisk (*) next to the estimate, VAT (currently 8.1%; for books currently 2.6%) is due on the hammer price plus buyer's premium.
What is the premium?
The premium is the commission paid by the buyer (buyer’s premium). In addition to the hammer price, this is 25% up to and including CHF 500,000.
What does the asterisk (*) next to the estimate mean?
For objects marked with an asterisk (*) next to the estimate, VAT (currently 8.1%; for books currently 2.6%) is due on the hammer price plus buyer's premium.
How do I get my invoice?
After the Online Only auction has ended, you will receive the invoice for the lots you have successfully bid on at the e-mail address you have provided.
How do I pay my bill?
You can pay your invoice by bank transfer in CHF.
When can I pick up the acquired works?
The purchased works can be picked up personally after receipt of payment during our opening hours. We can also arrange shipping on request. To do so, send the completed Shipping Instructions form to galerie@kornfeld.ch.
Can I subsequently purchase unsold lots from the auctions?
After the auctions, you can make a request to purchase unsold lots.
