Our auctions and pre-auction viewings traditionally take place during ART Basel. A visit to the pre-auction exhibition in Bern and a personal consultation with the employees of our auction house are part and parcel of of a visit to the art fair for international collectors and their agents, museum curators and dealers. Every year in June, this turns Bern into the meeting place for the elite among international collectors and dealers.
Did you know that Galerie Kornfeld has always held auctions in June? It is precisely for this reason that the ART Basel founders scheduled the art fair for the same dates.
Works of art are subject to particular “estimation” by Galerie Kornfeld. From an estimate of CHF 100,000, they are included in the main auction granting them special attention which regularly results in record prices. A small selection of past records can be found at Notable sales
Located at Laupenstrasse 41 close to Bern's main station, the neo-classical Villa Thurmau provides the ideal backdrop for presenting artworks during the preview exhibitions and auctions. The auction room which is connected to the house is a glass and steel pavilion designed by Fritz Haller and offers seating to more than 300 guests. During breaks, auction goers can enjoy refreshments in the beautiful garden surrounded by blooming flowers.
Galerie Kornfeld Auktionen AG is a member of The Art Loss Register. All works, as far as they are uniquely indentifiable and have an estimate of at least EUR 1'000 have been checked against the database of the Register prior to the auction.
