Condition

On strong, cream wove paper (papier vélin) with watermark "BFK RIVES". Traces of old mounting at the back, studio marks at the paper margins. Colour fresh and in very good overall condition

Commentaires

In the last years of his life, Fernand Léger's art oscillated between figurative works such as the famous "La partie de campagne" and "Les constructeurs" and completely abstract compositions. The overlapping elements of the present work focus on colour and form. Thus, shapes drawn with black strokes and various colour fields in blue, red, yellow and green meet.

The compositions are clearly influenced by wall paintings, which the artist studied intensively, especially in the USA. The strong colours and the stylised protagonists point to a coming generation of artists; not without reason Léger is also called the father of Pop Art

A very beautiful work that impressively combines painting and drawing.

Auf festem, cremefarbenem Velin mit Wasserzeichen "BFK RIVES". Rückseitig mit Spuren von alten Montierungen, an den Papierrändern Atelierspuren. Farbfrisch und in sehr guter Gesamterhaltung

Erläuterungen

In seinen letzten Lebensjahren oszillierte Fernand Légers Kunst zwischen figurativen Werken wie den berühmten "La partie de campagne" und "Les constructeurs" und völlig abstrakten Kompositionen. Die sich überlagernden Elemente der vorliegenden Arbeit konzentrieren sich auf Farbe und Form. So treffen sich mit schwarzen Strichen gezeichnete Formen und verschiedene Farbfelder in Blau, Rot, Gelb und Grün

Die Kompositionen sind eindeutig beeinflusst von Wandmalereien, mit denen sich der Künstler vor allem in den USA intensiv auseinandersetzte. Die kräftigen Farben und die stilisierten Protagonistinnen und Protagonisten verweisen auf eine kommende Künstlergeneration; nicht zu Unrecht wird Léger auch als Vater der Pop-Art bezeichnet

Eine sehr schöne Arbeit, die faktisch Malerei und Zeichnung eindrücklich verbindet
