Condition

In perfect, deep black print quality, left and right with at least 6.2 cm paper margin, top 2 cm, bottom 2.8 cm, in very good paper condition. With single foxing spots, especially on the back. At the back side in the upper outer paper margin remains of an old mounting

Comments

The artist's first important print and, together with "Retour de Russie", one of the most important of his entire graphic oeuvre. Of great rarity, already Delteil lists only 10 copies in 1924, of which 5 were already in public collections at that time. The print can be counted among the milestones of early lithography

Depicts one of the earliest boxing matches in which fighters still fought without gloves

In tadelloser, tiefschwarzer Druckqualität, links und rechts mit mindestens 6,2 cm Papierrand, oben 2 cm, unten 2,8 cm, in sehr guter Papiererhaltung. Mit einzelnen Stockfleckchen, vor allem rückseitig. Rückseitig im oberen äusseren Papierrand Reste von einer alten Montage

Erläuterungen

Das erste wichtige Blatt des Künstlers und zusammen mit "Retour de Russie" eines der bedeutendsten seines gesamten graphischen Œuvres. Von grosser Seltenheit, schon Delteil führt 1924 lediglich 10 Exemplare auf, von denen sich schon damals 5 in öffentlichen Sammlungen befanden. Das Blatt darf zu den Marksteinen der frühen Lithographie gezählt werden

Dargestellt ist einer der frühesten Boxkämpfe, in denen noch ohne Handschuhe gekämpft wurde
