To mark the 25th anniversary of German reunification, sculptor Tony Cragg created a steel sculpture entitled "Border Away". With its proportions and column-like structure, the rust-patinated work is distantly reminiscent of the Brandenburg Gate, once a symbol of the divided German nation. The centre of the sculpture is accentuated by a kind of cleft as an "opening", symbolically understood as a newly emerging connection between the countries through the once impermeable gate.

"Grenze weg" was produced in an edition of 35 copies and 6 AP for the artist and was published by the BILD newspaper. Cast in steel, Cragg allows the surface to oxidise. He thus leaves the final aesthetic appearance to a chemical reaction. A typical work by the artist in the unmistakable, organic-looking, free form language

Aus Anlass des 25-jährigen Jubiläums der deutschen Wiedervereinigung schuf der Bildhauer Tony Cragg eine Stahlskulptur mit dem Titel "Grenze weg". Das mit Rost patinierte Werk erinnert mit den Proportionen und dem säulenartigen Aufbau entfernt an das Brandenburger Tor, einst Sinnbild der getrennten deutschen Nation. Die Mitte der Plastik wird durch eine Art Spalte quasi als "Öffnung" akzentuiert, symbolhaft zu verstehen als neu entstehende Verbindung zwischen den Ländern durch das einst undurchlässige Tor

"Grenze weg" entstand in einer Auflage von 35 Exemplaren und 6 AP für den Künstler und wurde von der BILD-Zeitung verlegt. Gegossen in Stahl lässt Cragg die Oberfläche oxydieren. Er überlässt damit das finale ästhetische Erscheinungsbild einer chemischen Reaktion. Eine typische Arbeit des Künstlers in der unverkennbaren, organisch anmutenden, freien Formensprache
